A cookie is a small file that downloads onto your computer when you access certain websites, to store and obtain information on your browsing habits or your equipment. The browser stores the cookies in your hard drive, taking up a minimal space, just during the current session, without harming your computer. Cookies do not contain any personal information and most of them are wiped off your hard drive when you close the session (called session cookies).

Cookies are useful because they enable the website to recognise the browser, your preferences and, in general, help to improve your browsing experience.

This type of cookies are a free website analysis tool provided by Google, which enables the owners of websites to find out how users interact with their website. It also enables cookies in the domain of the website you are on and uses a set of cookies called “_utma” and “_utmz” to gather information anonymously and prepare anonymous reports on website trends.

– Plugin cookies: Also called complement cookies, they are used to exchange social content. The social networks store and access this type of cookies in your computer. They enable the social network to identify the members while they interact with the complements.
